Several first-time home buyers in our community — individuals and families who have worked tirelessly to qualify for a downpayment assistance program — are now at risk of homelessness through no fault of their own.
Because of the high demand for affordable housing in our community, Forsyth County exceeded the 2024 down payment assistance fund allotment from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA).
This news came after qualifying home buyers had been vetted, met rigid standards for the program, and put offers on modest homes with the promise of downpayment assistance. The sudden reversal is devastating. Four of these buyers now face heartbreaking hurdles. Without the gap funding they were promised, these buyers lack the funds to close and now face possible homelessness this winter.
We need your help! Please consider a gift to bridge the gap and help these families achieve their dream of home ownership. 100% of your donation will help bring four qualifying families one step closer to the stability and security they need.

The First-Time Homebuyer Affordable Homeownership Opportunity Program through Forsyth County made me believe that homeownership was within reach.
This journey has been deeply emotional for me. I have documented each phase of my home's construction and even inscribed scripture versus on the frame because I believed this was my forever home.
